Independent homeowner resource · Pennsylvania / York County pilot · Verify all requirements with your local office
About this project

Helpful local information. No guesswork.

We turn scattered municipal resources into clearer starting points for everyday home projects.

Why this site exists

Homeowners looking into a shed, deck or fence often encounter contradictory advice about whether they need a permit. One article discusses the statewide building code, another discusses local zoning, and the municipality’s own rules may add a further step. PropertyPermitGuide is designed to separate those questions and point readers to the official source.

How we research

We start with current public information from government agencies and municipal offices. We look for the responsible jurisdiction, the type of approval involved, project dimensions that might affect the answer, and where a homeowner can find the real application. Every location-specific result contains a source link. We do not represent that a government office has approved or endorsed this website.

What the pilot covers

The first version focuses on six municipalities in York County, Pennsylvania, and six common outdoor project types. It is intentionally a small, source-linked pilot rather than an unverified national database. Additional locations should be added only after their sources have been checked.

Corrections and transparency

Local requirements change. Information may become incomplete, and a property’s zoning district or particular design can affect the answer. When we publish updated research, the source review date should change as well. For corrections or source updates, email contact@propertypermitguide.com. We welcome links to official information that help us improve a guide.
